The challenge

Low Scoring is a football humour brand built on an established, engaged audience. Since 2019, the Simpsons EFL accounts had amassed 100,000+ followers across platforms, with individual posts reaching 1.5 million views. The founders needed to turn that audience into something commercially ownable.

Our approach

Rate designed and built the brand and Shopify site from the ground up, taking Low Scoring from an audience to a fully functioning commercial identity and storefront.

The brand work covered strategy, voice, aesthetic direction, personality and a clear brief that gave the identity designer a foundation grounded in the audience that already existed. Three connected product lines were defined: merchandise, an editorial blog and a mobile game sub-brand, each requiring its own identity within the Low Scoring system.

The results

Three numbers that mattered.

100k+

Existing followers turned into the foundation of a brand.

1.5m

Views on individual posts from the audience the brand is built on.

8

Product lines priced with margin analysis at key volume thresholds.

The takeaway
Low Scoring had the audience and the instinct. Rate provided the strategic framework to build a brand that could outlast the IP it was moving away from, from brand personality to product margin.
